Empowering Sell-Side and Buy-Side Algorithmic Trading

Sell-side firms can leverage Apama's flexibility to empower proprietary desks to deploy new trading scenarios. The sell-side can also use Apama to support buy-side clients, ensuring a sell-side firm that its algorithms offer competitive advantage over others in the market.

Alternatively, buy-side firms can choose to deploy Apama directly within their operations. Apama's rapid "develop & deploy" tools allow the buy-side to take direct control of trading strategies, gaining enhanced flexibility in choices for trade execution - including direct market access.

Rapidly Model, Test, and Execute Algorithmic Trading Strategies

Apama includes a comprehensive development environment embracing both trade strategists and developers. Apama Event Modeler enables traders to create and deploy unique algorithmic strategies. The graphical environment intuitively represents trading scenarios.

Event Modeler is complemented by Apama SmartBlocks, pre-packaged algorithms (VWAP, EWMA, MACD and others). SmartBlocks can easily be inserted into new strategies and used "as is" or modified for customer requirements. Apama also provides a rich event processing language (both native and in Java) to enable IT-driven trade strategy creation.

Apama Research Studio and Apama EventStore further development with a flexible backtesting environment. Research Studio operates on real market data captured in Apama EventStore, a time series data store, and provides TiVo-like replay operations that can evaluate new trading strategies. Research Studio can also execute "digital forensics" that audit the performance of scenarios in deployment.

Apama Event Correlator provides low latency execution with a patented complex event processing architecture, built upon Apama's Correlators. The Apama architecture can support thousands of unique strategies operating simultaneously, while delivering sub-millisecond response to inbound market data.

With its extensible Integration Adapter Framework (IAF) and wide range of APIs, Apama offers a range of packaged adapters that provide bi-directional connectivity (see Apama Connectivity). Apama easily integrates with customer-specific event data sources and application environments via its Integration Adapter Framework.
