Willem de Lang has been a familiar face at Intersolve since November 2018. As a member of the IT Operations team, he works daily to keep the technical core of the organisation running smoothly. His passion clearly lies at the intersection of infrastructure and software, an area in which he has been able to fully indulge himself over the past six years.
No two days are the same in IT Operations. "Our department covers a wide range of areas," explains Willem. "We manage internal IT, handle workplace management, manage our own data centre and ensure that our transaction platform continues to run smoothly." This variety keeps the work challenging." One moment you're solving a user issue, the next you're diving into a platform malfunction. That requires an analytical approach and close cooperation."
Although the team is small, its impact is significant. "Precisely because we work with a compact team, the lines of communication are short and the collaboration is open and direct. Everyone knows what to expect from each other. We also run on-call services where we can always consult each other. This allows us to solve problems quickly and efficiently. That intensive collaboration and the diversity of tasks are what make my work so enjoyable."
Willem feels at home at Intersolve. "It feels like a large, friendly family business. Everyone talks to each other easily and the atmosphere is open. I don't like large, impersonal companies where you're just a number. At Intersolve, it's completely different. Integrity is of paramount importance here, and despite the diversity of people, you can really count on each other."
When Willem started, the company had about sixty employees. Intersolve has grown considerably since then, but the culture has remained the same. "Of course, you don't know everyone as well anymore, but the threshold is still low. You can just talk to anyone. When I started here, I ended up in a new area of IT for me, but I quickly got to grips with the working methods and tools.I'm still learning here every day."
What also matters to Willem is how Intersolve treats its employees. "A lot is organised. Think of company outings, parties, small gifts on special days and on Tuesdays they even cook hamburgers. It all really contributes to the pleasant atmosphere and the strong 'sense of togetherness' that exists here."
